Andreas Hipp and a Joint Management team acquires Cataleya from Epsilon Global Communications

Cataleya will accelerate the development of innovative intelligent networking solutions at its R&D centre in Silicon Valley while expanding its operations in Pune, India maintaining its headquarter in Singapore.

Singapore, 14 February 2017 A joint management team led by industry-veteran Andreas Hipp has acquired Cataleya, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Epsilon Global Communications group. Andreas Hipp co-founded Epsilon in 2003 and was the former CEO of both Epsilon and Cataleya until October 2015.The acquisition enables Cataleya to push intelligent networking into new areas and develop new commercial models for next generation session border controller (SBC) technologies.

The joint management group includes technology start-up accelerator Incipio and a group of R&D and engineering specialists. It will maintain Cataleya’s Silicon Valley based R&D facilities and headquarter in Singapore while expanding its operations in Pune, India.

“Cataleya has an amazing opportunity to really disrupt the SBC market and remove the barriers to adopting intelligent networking globally. Its award-winning technology has proven itself in markets from Afghanistan and Liberia to Europe and the USA. With the right commercial model, Cataleya will take its place as the industry leading SBC and accelerate the adoption of intelligent networking globally,” said Andreas Hipp, founder of Incipio.

Cataleya has deployed its next generation SBC across five continents and enabled network operators of all kinds to benefit from guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) and Experience (QoE) end-to-end on IP networks. Its intelligent networking technology uses real-time network data and analytics combined with machine learning to troubleshoot network performance issues before they happen. Orchid One brings visibility and predictability to IP networking and changes what is possible on IP.

“Epsilon Global Communications made the strategic decision to focus on its core service provider offering. The timing was right to dedicate ourselves fully to innovating within our Cloud-centric networking platform, and with Andreas and his team Cataleya is in very experienced hands,” said Jerzy Szlosarek, CEO at Epsilon. “Cataleya’s Orchid One SBC will remain an important part of our suite of intelligent network solutions. We look forward to seeing it evolve as a standalone business.”

Andreas Hipp becomes Cataleya’s Chairman and CEO and will oversee its global operations. With the joint management team in place, Cataleya will continue to serve its customers around the world with no impact on their SBC infrastructure. In the coming months, the company will be making announcements around features and functionalities related to Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), Cloud and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) in addition to its existing fraud identification and mitigation capabilities.
